At Lidl Greece we are proud because we build perspective for all our stakeholders, on solid, sustainable foundations. Business ethics are a source of inspiration for our values and the chain of responsibility becomes an act of sustainable empowerment for our own people, consumers, partners.
Sustainability for us is not a simple wording, but shapes our business profile and runs horizontally through our daily life.

We are moving on the trajectory of a new sustainability strategy, which develops in three dynamic axes: "Good for the planet", "Good for people" and "Good for you" with the individual actions spread over six strategic pillars: climate protection, respect for biodiversity, conservation of resources, business law, health protection and participation in dialogue. It is a functional as well as an innovative approach that allows us to respond with best practices, at the right time, to a variety of challenges. We adapt quickly, build efficiency and remain sustainable, extroverted and beneficial to the whole.

Martin Brandenburger, Managing Director Lidl Hellas

CEO Message

At Lidl Greece we are working today on the questions that will concern the world tomorrow. Sustainable development is not a current trend. It is a timeless value and need, which emerged in recent years in a constantly changing socio-economic context. Together with our employees, our suppliers, our social partners and our strategic partners we have started the journey towards a better tomorrow. With the good for everyone in mind, we developed our company's sustainability strategy, listening to international challenges, such as climate change and human rights, but also to the needs of our own society, the Greek one. Our new sustainable development strategy includes six strategic pillars: Protecting the climate, respecting biodiversity, conserving resources, fair business, protecting health and engaging in dialogue, and is inextricably linked to our overall corporate strategy . In this context, we formulate goals and commitments, implement our investment program and align ourselves with ESG criteria, looking forward to a better tomorrow for the planet and society, better for the next generations.

Our inclusion in The Most Sustainable Companies in Greece is the seal of our corporate strategy for sustainability and gives us special joy. It is a practical recognition that our constant pursuit of a sustainable business is a strategic orientation and commitment to the future.

Martin Brandenburger, Managing Director Lidl Hellas

"We invest in strategic partners and contribute to the support of society and our fellow human beings"

The sustainable development strategy we apply at Lidl Greece is dynamic. In such a dynamic context, we formulate goals and commitments, in the matters that are of strategic importance to us and have a high business relevance.

We are committed to using 100% certified critical raw materials by 2025, supporting the protection of biodiversity. We present actions and measurable results under our plastic strategy, REset Plastic 2025. We have set ambitious climate targets under our climate strategy for an 80% reduction compared to 2019 in greenhouse gas emissions resulting from operational operation of Lidl in all countries, by 2030, while we already use 100% green electricity in all our facilities.

We invest in strategic partners and contribute to the support of society and our fellow human beings. It is noteworthy that our contribution to initiatives to support society and the environment throughout the Greek territory now exceeds €1.6 million annually.

We move in space and time with an eye on the future and on this path distinctions like that of The Most Sustainable Companies in Greece, are the driving force to move dynamically further.
